Madison Offensive 2020 Team Tactical Coverage

This past weekend a number of teams trekked to Wisconsin for the fourth annual Madison Offensive. Continuing to change and experiment with events, this year’s contest was a private event, with invites sent out to regions clubs in the greater Midwest. Returning to the roots of the Madison Offensive, this year’s group of attendees was mostly Lords and close friends, with some new guests from other states, in a small and intimate environment.

Each 3-person team consisted of Old School, Vintage, and Middle School decks, and while players could not change cards in any deck during the tournament, any player on the team could play any of the decks/seats in any round (to allow switching between decks if one player was discouraged or bored with format, for example).

This event’s charity was the ALS Association, a 501(c)3 charity organization that funds research for ALS, and creating cures for the people who live with it. After the main event, we had a large reservation at another local watering hole, the German bar Essen Haus, for dinner. Games of Old School 95, Middle School, Vintage, and Type 4 were scattered throughout our corner of the restaurant, tables were pounded, and boots of beer were downed.

The event featured 5 rounds of Swiss, Round Robin, so each team was able to play each other team. If there was not a clear winner at the end, there would be a Top 2 playoff. As it turns out, Cult of Doom was too strong for the field, and went undefeated at 5-0, winning the event!
