March Mayhem

The Lords of the Pit and Eternal Central are proud to announce March Mayhem, a split format charity event in Chicago, on Saturday March 14, 2020.

Tournament Entry and Prizes

The March Mayhem event will be held on Saturday March 14, 2020.
Tournament start time is 12:00pm sharp (please arrive by 11:45am to check in, get set up, and do card signing).
Tournament structure and length will be 6 total rounds of Swiss+1. There will be no draws allowed, and at the end of 50 minutes if there is a tied match players will go to 5 extra turns, and then there will be a Game of Chaos, using existing life totals (Flip a coin. If you win the flip, you gain 1 life and target opponent loses 1 life, and you decide whether to flip again. If you lose the flip, you lose 1 life and that opponent gains 1 life, and that player decides whether to flip again. Double the life stakes with each flip.). We came to game, not draw. Play a fun deck, imbibe, and have a blast with friends new and old!
Prizes will again be awarded by the Lords of the Pit and Eternal Central, and will be Old School and Middle School cards. Please bring a black bordered staple/playable card to contribute if you’d like (or alternatively, you may want to have everyone sign one card from your deck that day as your personal trophy). At this event and each event going forward there will also be a special prize awarded for Most Creative Deck.
Entrance Fee will be new and unused physical toy donations (suggested value $10-20 or whatever you can afford), which will be donated to local charities in Chicago for distribution to the less fortunate.

Tournament Format and Rules

This is a split format event, featuring 3 rounds of Old School 96, followed by 3 rounds of Middle School (the rules of each can be found in these links). These pages always have a complete list of deck construction rules, sets allowed, errata, and the most up to date Banned and Restricted List. This is a non-proxy event, and per the rules above you are allowed to play any legal reprint defined in the rules linked above. If you are interested in borrowing any cards from the EC Lending Library, please reach out privately ASAP to schedule this well in advance.
