Scavenging Ooze to be Reprinted in M14

Scavenging Ooze Being Reprinted

It looks like Scavenging Ooze is being printed in M14 this July. Over the weekend Worth Wollpert dropped this little gem on Twitter:

That contained a link to the website Digitally Downloaded in which they announced some news regarding Magic 2014 – Duel of the Planeswalkers. In addition to announcing that Duel of the Planeswalkers will now be available for Android platforms, they also revealed the included promo cards for each platform:
Steam, iPad, Android tablet – Scavenging Ooze
XBox – Bonescythe Sliver
PSN – Ogre Battledriver

Scavenging OozeYou might remember from Duel of the Planeswalkers 2013 and Duel of the Planeswalkers 2012 that promo packages each included a promo card, or an in-game redeemable code you could print out and take to your local retailer for a physical card. In this case we have Scavenging Ooze and two brand new cards (Bonescythe Sliver and Ogre Battledriver), all of which will hit Standard and Modern immediately. Each of the cards in prior instances were released as Mythic rares in the base set, but we do not know what Wizards of the Coast has in store this time. Scavenging Ooze was originally released as a normal rare in the Counterpunch Commander boxed set, so let the speculation begin.

What this means for Eternal fans is a lot more Scavenging Oozes to be in the marketplace, but also a lot more demand to go along with them. Expect Ooze to be a major player in both Standard and Modern formats, as controlling the graveyard is at a premium right now, and Scavenging Ooze will immediately become an important tool at fighting recursion strategies in both formats, as well as controlling opposing Deathrite Shamans, which is clearly the best one drop in the game right now.
